Who Can Apply?

You could be eligible for the BUS if:

✔ You own the property you want to upgrade

✔ You’re replacing an existing fossil fuel heating system (e.g., gas, oil, LPG)

✔ Your property has a valid Energy Performance Certificate (EPC)

✔ Your installer is certified under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) and applies for the grant on your behalf  

The scheme currently covers homes and small non-domestic buildings in England and Wales.

How It Works - Simple and Installer Led

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme is installer-led, meaning your chosen MCS-certified installer will handle the grant application through Ofgem. You simply choose your system and installer, agree a quote, and the grant amount is deducted from the price you pay. 2. Receive confirmation of eligibility

3. Installer applies for the grant on your behalf

There’s no application form you need to send to the Government, your installer takes care of it.
